this is us.

Welcome to what I like to call my second home. It's where I like to be when my kids give me a few seconds to share what I love most- them.

I started my photography journey a little over two years ago just wanting to take better pictures of my kids. I fell in love and quickly jumped into my own business. I took pictures of a lot of other peoples kids, but was often too tired to capture the memories of my own. I have come full circle and am back to shooting the ones I love.

Right now my main focus is perfecting my art. While I have decided not to be in business at this time, I would love for this to be a place of inspiration and beauty. Somewhere I can share myself in my work. As photographer Nan Goldin once said, "This is a diary I let people read." I have many different projects in mind and can't wait to see them come to life.

I am an artist who loves to share the beauty of a smile, a connection and a laugh. I have a story to tell and a journey I would love to share with you.

is what I am living in today. Just playing around with different tones. I used to use actions for all of my black and whites, but I love creating my own. One word you all….gradient map!

Just a few of Sade today. Jessie and Sawyer were fast asleep so I took Sade down to my studio (aka my dark, cold, basement/storage) She only gave me a few minutes before she was asking to go watch Dora.

A few minutes was all I needed.

I get really frustrated sometimes because I wish I had more time for photography. I wish I had more time to play with my lights. I wish I had more time to perfect my ART. There are so many things I want to still learn.

But, then I have those quiet moments where I have all my kids cuddled in my arms and I am quickly reminded that my time is spent right where it should be. With them.

all this laughter over here. There is nothing better than the laugh so hard you have to close your eyes or they might just fall right out kinda laugh.

I got my new studio lights and wanted to try them out. I had two willing subjects and we had fun. A lot of fun.

I told Sadie no mod faces this time.

Today, I just wanted laughter.

My goal was to try and see, feel, know and capture their souls without any eye contact. Could it be done? I mean, the eyes are the windows to your soul, after-all.

This is hers.

And this, this is hers.

I think it can.

HEARTshop is this week. I can’t handle my excitement. Yan and I have put our HEARTS and SOULS into this. It will be amazing!

Oh and by the way…my favorite person in the world??? My hubbs. Because he makes me feel beautiful. Because he makes me feel confident. Because when I am in a rut, he lies and tells me I am the best damn photographer on the planet. Because he gave me my three beautiful, loving children.

Can you even handle all the cuteness?

We got together with Yan in her gorgeous natural light studio (HEARTshop attendees, this will be your home for a few days soon…very, very soon)

Can you even handle the anticipation?

We only have a few spots open, so hurry and jump on in.

The kids went NUTS at this shoot. And that is exactly what we wanted. We envisioned craziness. We envisioned giggles. We envisioned big grins and lots of tickling.

What we got was magic. What we got were forever cherished moments.
