something special- be ART

Some people just have it.

You know it. That something that makes you smile. It can make you feel inspired to do something.

You can’t describe it. You can’t explain it.

It’s just something special.

And my dear Kristi, you have it!

You might recognize this beautiful girl from somewhere. I was lucky enough to shoot Kristi about a year ago. Check her out HERE. She was so fun and amazing to shoot and I just had to do it again.

Luckily for me Kristi works out at my gym and I see this pretty lady every morning. (side note since we are talking about gyms….Kristi is a machine. She is my idol. She doesn’t know this, but I work out everyday, so I can look a fraction as good as her. Trust me, you will see the evidence of her hard work at the gym down below…just try and keep your drooling to a minimal) Seriously.

Anyways, I emailed Kristi and told her I had to shoot her again. She was excited and so we had to make it happen.

While we were shooting, I asked her if I could shoot her at least once a week.

She laughed and agreed.

I was serious. ;)

Well, before you go crazy with all of this reading, I will give you what you came here for….

some really cool pictures of a really cool person.

*She kept telling me she was no model and that I would need to direct her…..I laughed.

Then she gave me these….

Chisses!

can you see it? -be ART

Her beauty. Her warmth. Her generous and sincere soul.

I can see it. I can feel it. I am so happy I can know it.

Brooke is not only an amazingly talented photographer herself, but she is a dear friend of mine. She lives in Las Vegas (insert my tears here), but we were so lucky to have her visit Utah this past week. I asked her who was shooting her maternity shots and she said nobody. Ummmm exsqueeze me? I don’t think so my friend. So I gladly took the honor and pleasure of shooting her adorable and yes barely there belly. She is due in September people. I know. Life is just not fair!

Maternity shots to me are all about mom. It’s about capturing her beautiful glow. Her beautifully formed pregnant body. Her joy. And all of the quiet reflective moments in between.

Brooke, you are gorgeous. I hope I made you feel that way.

Heading out of town for girl’s camp. But, will be back next week.

HEARTshop post to come then.

a black and white world -be ART

is what I am living in today. Just playing around with different tones. I used to use actions for all of my black and whites, but I love creating my own. One word you all….gradient map! :)

Just a few of Sade today. Jessie and Sawyer were fast asleep so I took Sade down to my studio (aka my dark, cold, basement/storage) :) She only gave me a few minutes before she was asking to go watch Dora.

A few minutes was all I needed.

I get really frustrated sometimes because I wish I had more time for photography. I wish I had more time to play with my lights. I wish I had more time to perfect my ART. There are so many things I want to still learn.

But, then I have those quiet moments where I have all my kids cuddled in my arms and I am quickly reminded that my time is spent right where it should be. With them.

Enjoy the journey.

cathcing up – be ART

Now that the HEARTshop is over, I have time to come back up to the surface of real life and catch my breath. I now have time to pay more attention to my blog. Oh how I have missed this place. And I now have time to post sessions that seem like they were ages ago.

Sooo while I am waiting to finish editing my images from the HEARTshop, and get a super big post together for that, here are some images from that fun senior shoot I attended. I posted two of the beauties HERE. These kids are actors. These kids are talented. These kids look NOTHING like high school seniors did when I was in my glory days. They are gorgeous! Seriously.

It was a blast.

High school seniors are some of my favorites to photograph. My connection with them comes natural. It’s like chowing down on my favorite chocolate chip cookie. It’s easy. It’s fun. It fills my soul. haha

Here are the rest of my favs.
